Make a sound that feels like yours.
You do not have to be musical, productive, or “good at this.” Try one sound, one line, or one breath. Created by Michelle D. Elder, MSW, LMHC as an educational wellness tool.
1 · BUILD YOUR SOUND
Choose your backing music
Start simple: choose a genre, pick one beat, and press Preview. That is enough to begin. More sounds and advanced controls are available when you want them.
Live mixer
A studio-style compressor keeps peaks controlled. Add swing for groove, bass boost for weight, or lower brightness for a warmer sound.
How to make the beat feel like yours
Turn steps on or off, change the tempo, leave silence before an important line, or remove a sound completely. Start with a style you like, then change one thing at a time.
2 · OPTIONAL
Layer grounding sounds
Choose one sound or combine several. Tap a selected sound again to remove it. Every chosen layer loops gently and can be included in your recording.
3 · MAKE YOUR OWN SOUND
Record, name, and arrange five personal loops
Choose 15 seconds for short sounds, 30 seconds for verses, or 45 seconds for a longer poem or story. Your microphone prepares first, then the visible 3–2–1 countdown begins; start only when you see GO. Name each loop, choose its starting beat, and place it anywhere in the 16-bar song timeline. Recordings stay in this browser tab unless you download them.
4 · FIND A DOORWAY
Choose a lyric or poetry doorway
These prompts invite expression without asking anyone to disclose details, relive an event, or turn pain into a lesson.
5 · YOUR WORDS
Write without grading yourself
A sentence, a list, a lyric, a poem, or silence all count. There is no right way.
6 · YOUR VOICE
Record a note, poem, affirmation, or song
Microphone access begins only after you press Record. You may stop at any time.
If the music is not already playing, your selected sample will begin when recording starts. Headphones can reduce echo.
Not recording.
